I’m passionate of what our parents have achieved and I am proud of the hard work they have done since they came to the U.K. from the Caribbean. The Empire Windrush's voyage from the Caribbean to Britain took place in 1948. Thousands of them arrived full of hope, dreams and the promise of new lives. Instead, they disembarked into decades of heartache and struggle for acceptance beyond their wildest imaginings.
To the present day, people still want to move to another country in search of a better life for all sorts of reasons. In a sense, this theme has never ended. I believe that my work appeals to anybody who has similar experience of moving to another country for a better life.
The work I have been doing for the community at large over the years e.g. using drama and poetry as tools to stimulate young people’s mind as well as to re-stimulate our Elders minds about what they achieved in their lifetime.
