There's nothing worse than when people cancel on you right at the last moment is there? You've logged the appointment into your mobile / on your computer or in your diary - basically offset other engagements just so that you could meet up to discuss business or the possibility of doing business.
The worst case scenarios are when people can't even be bothered to ring you to let you know ie. you receive a text message or an email instead (At the last minute?!) - I say USE the phone - Speak to me! At least let me know what's happening on a verbal basis. Technological tools are great to use because of their versatility - but please don't hide behind them. Pick up the phone and give the other person a call - otherwise it comes across as totally unprofessional, disrespectful and pure BS.
Worse than that, is when there's no apology - just a glib remark via text or email (not even a follow-up phone call later) - as if you have nothing better to do than sit around all week waiting to be told your meeting is a 'no-go' without any explanation. Well I've had two of these type of last-minute cancellations this week...And all I can say is that I've definitely got their Numbers, got their Measure etc....Anyway that's the end of my Rant ;O)
The video clip of John Cabot reminds me of the Deep Thought mode I went into after experiencing each of the 'Last Minute Cancellations' :O)
