As well as all three of us catching up as friends - and updating each other on film project progress, talking about current and possible future challenges etc - I came away from this particular meeting, reflecting on how very much inspired I was that three very different self-driven individuals not only enjoy developing and completing their own particular projects - but also very much want to work with other people on their creative projects to ensure that completion is the end-result!
Buddy One is a very organised individual, a very imaginative and fluid thinker and operates in a couple of other artistic fields too - he's a very good team player - accessible and helpful as a fellow creative. Good with constructive feedback, great with suggestions.
Buddy Two is more of a modern-day maverick - tending to do things the way he sees fit - with as little outside intervention as possible - he has a strong vision and is determined to turn his ideas into film - an Auteur in the making. Not so good with constructive feedback, but gets on well with people.
In contrast to these two unique friends (and colleagues), I'm much more of a Producer (although I am a professional Actor - Writer/Director too) - I handle constructive criticism pretty well - as I'm a great believer in personal as well as creative growth.
These guys are both much more technical than I am regarding Film Production and Editing - I'm more of an inter- and intra-departmental communicator, I interface well with Agencies and Companies - and like to make sure that resources - Human and otherwise - are 'locked-down' etc.
The great thing is, that we share a common spirit ie. all of us needing to find a way to channel and manipulate our creative energy alongside others - in order to create a Film or A Work of Art!
