ALLFLAWS are releasing a New Album

Bristol's electronica act Allflaws have announced that they will be releasing a new album called Versus The Soul. It is set to be their 3rd and most anticipated album to date. The album is expected to emerge early this summer and will be released on UK label Derelict State Records.

Allflaws who are fronted by Gabriel Curran have come from the realms of the infamous Bristol music scene with their very own dark, brooding and eclectic sound which progressively fuses elements of industrial, dance, hip hop, electronica, trip hop and breakbeat.

Most people 'hear you out' OR 'Get It' when you explain to them what it is that you do regarding Fees charged for Professional Work carried out - and it's up to them when it comes to deciding if they want your services or not - simple.

I don't know about what recent experiences you've had of late, but I was approached by a particular individual - either 'very much unaware' or simply 'tight-fisted' - querying having to pay up for potential work done on their behalf?!

A particular woman wanted me to explain in great detail (via email - no attempt was made on her part to communicate via the telephone) about why I charged what I did for Proof-reading or Script Editing or providing Development Notes re: Scripts - I initially gave her the benefit of the doubt, encompassing her cautiousness, but quickly caught onto her ploy to drag me into a "long-drawn-out-waste-of-time escapade" - I presented her with competitive price quotes, along with the 'heavy-hitting end of the price spectrum' - but all she wanted to do was latch on to wasting my time.

I ended up being polite, but very much 'up front' with Take It Or Leave It ie. If you want a professional service you are going to have to pay whoever it is you decide to do business with. A very interesting thing happened. She politely extricated herself from any more communication.

NB: I know what I'm worth in the marketplace - if people want my services, they'll simply have to pay! ;O)

So far in 2013 - I've met up 'face-to-face' with a couple of potential project collaborators and had telephone conversations and social media messaging with a handful of others. None of these people had been previously known to me. This is what I experienced:

Did we share or not share a common vision or set of goals?
Most people appeared to share the vision of creating success - but differed in the way they wished to achieve their goals from me - which is understandable because everyone comes from different backgrounds, experiences, possessing different skillsets ie. we're all unique. But further discussion tended to reveal an overall reluctancy to reach a compromise (even when communication seemed to favour a potential partnership) in order to move forward or a fear of risk-taking, yet were hoping to miraculously team up with someone without a 'well thought-out' framework from which to work from.

Professionalism and Experience in the field?
Most of these potential collaborators seemed only out for what they could get ie. One-sided
OR didn't know how to conduct themselves in a personable yet professional manner
OR were instantaneously put off when clarity was asked for regarding their intent / approach to potentially collaborating as a project partner,

Where are people in their personal development?
Some people are very well-rounded individuals who know who they are and what they want in terms of creativity and business, being experienced practitioners in the field of Theatre, Music, Film or Art. This wasn't the case when communicating with the most recent batch of potential collaborators.

In the end, it's all about plausible chemistry and trust when creating projects / collaborations. People need to be able to share a common vision or set of goals, having or developing professionalism and experience in the field and it's also each persons' responsibility to work on their own personal development as well as use their own initiative.

Rolling forwards out of 2012 into 2013 with more developed creative projects.

One or two New/Potential Collaborations in the pipeline - a very good sign already!

'WINTER CLEANING'
The very necessary process of fine-tuning (action planning) and streamlining (getting rid of deadwood) began a couple of weeks ago in Dec 2012 - and will continue deep into January 2013. This will ensure that Maelstrom Media Productions only works with or alongside proactive and resourceful individuals, organisations and companies.

Maelstrom Media Productions will be involved in the following:
Producing Short Film & Theatre.
Directing Film & Theatre / Plays.
Writing & Developing Screenplays for Short & Feature Film Projects
Collaborating with others to put on Music Events & Art Exhibitions.
Project Conceptualisation / Management / Development.

2012 was a great year - but 2013 will be even better :O)
