"I Went To Albania"
by Tom Phillips
7pm
Wed 11th Jan 2012
Bristol Old Vic
,
King Street,
Bristol

_
Why did Enver Hoxha build 700,000 concrete bunkers across the whole of Albania? Were beards illegal under his communist regime? Can you really buy a secondhand Kalashnikov on the streets of Tirana? And what’s any of that got to do with Lord Byron, Edward Lear and John Constable’s picture framer?

Part travelogue, part personal history, part practical experiment, I went to Albania is a haphazard journey in search of a failed utopia, a debunking of myths, and a work-in-progress by writer/performer Tom Phillips in collaboration with director Andy Burden.

Tom’s previous work for theatre includes 'Hotel Illyria', 'Man Diving' and 'Arbeit Macht Frei'

Circomedia presents:
THE BAH HUMBUG CABARET
Thursday 8th and Friday 9th December 7.30pm
CIRCOMEDIA, PORTLAND SQ, BRISTOL, BS2

Drawing on acts produced for their Variety Performance Unit, they have had to create, rehearse and audition these acts for selection finally performing them in front of a live audience.

The students have selected Bristol Drugs Project as the charity they would like to receive the profits, to support the youth and education work.

Please come along and support the students in this venture and give money to a great local charity. Tickets are a bargain £5 and available from Colston Hall Box Office 0117 922 3686 or wwww.circomedia.com
