All of us have Egos. We all know this. However, many people/groups get into great difficulty, because their egos are out of control. And they wonder why no-one wants to work with them.
When it comes to working with others, we have to be aware of other peoples' egos as well as our own egos/desires/ambitions, in order to earn trust and respect, to get things done, and to be recognised for doing so. Which means, our own egos need to be under control. We have to be able to listen to our business partners even if we don't like what's being said or even if we totally disagree with them - plus listen to other peoples' constructive feedback, then digest, assimilate and reflect.
We also have to be able to listen to our clients and get clear and honest when we're communicating to them as a partnership - about our products or services.
Our egos are great when we're in the driving seat and know where we're going - but once that's done, we need to apply the brakes, slow down, take a chill pill. And review, reflect, have a good think - discuss with trusted parties - learn from each other, in order to grow.
RE: New Partnerships
Over the last couple of months, Maelstrom Media Productions has been slowly beavering away at turning a few potential partnerships into actual creative partnerships - which has included the establishment of a clean and transparent slate from the start ie. establishing what kind of partnership it is, developing clear beneficial working practices, as well as having similar creative, technical or administrative approaches to achieving results.
RE: Established Partnerships
Regarding older creative partnerships - creative differences are being ironed out, along with working approaches and practices, so that all parties are clear about what's to be accomplished. Lines have had to be re-drawn in the sand in one or two places & flexible demarcation zones mapped out in other specific areas. If we we don't evolve, we die!
RE: OPPORTUNITY FOR CREATIVE PEOPLE:
Singers, Comedians, Actors, Artists, Expressive People (Bristol, England) for a film and photo shoot, to be part of an Art Installation Exhibition in the Bristol Biennial during 1st to 16th June 2012. Selected Performers will be given a copy of photos and film and their names will be included in the publicity.
Some people from the community with an interesting story to tell will also be considered.
Please write to artemotion@virginmedia.com to express your interest and talent.
This will take just one hour. work will be scheduled for the month of April 2012.
As with the NHS, the Bristol City Council project was another move by Maelstrom Media Productions to contribute towards positive change within the working environment, using the medium of Theatre to get the message across:- that all acts of racism/sexism are unacceptable and need to be dealt with at all times using appropriate guidelines/avenues which ensure that culprits are brought into the cold light of day to face the music. Once again, the recent theatre performances took place within a workshop setting for Senior Management.
After every thematic performance, Senior Management had to discuss in small groups what was going on / going wrong - and what was needed to deal with inappropriate behaviour and attitudes within the workplace. Hopefully leading to policy changes within Bristol City Council.
Maelstrom Media Productions will continue to build on working relationships and partnerships in the areas of small-scale Film, Theatre, Music and Art. The work may be highly artistic or community-based or may involve the private or corporate sector.
Contact Angus on 07976 585 376 to discuss details of potential projects.
I had a great time on the "THEY CALL ME IVAN" filmshoot (a film by Dave Wong) earlier on this year in South Wales. I helped out behind the scenes, just to give Dave some slack whilst he focused on being the main character - Ivan - during the actual Night Shoot itself.
Brilliant watching the fight choreography by MJR Pictures.

No doubt Dave will be knocking out some other episodes in due course :O)
